Les Architistes are advocates for an ecological, social and poetic approach to light, whether natural or artificial. The aim of the association is to raise awareness among the general public and professionals on the design of light in nighttime urbanism, to promote eco-design methods in light scenography, and to re-enchant the urban landscape through experimental and sensorial installations.
Les Architistes approach combines the analytical perspective of the architect with the iterative and experimental approach of the artist. It is participative, expressive and situated, based on the sensitive experience of a place and the encounters with its living ecosystems. It is grounded in eco-design principles, both in the logic of design and in the re-use of materials. Finally, in a search for emotion and poetry, it celebrates the simple pleasures that challenge our routine relationships with the city.
By working with the light medium and adapting it according to projects :
-
- Education and mediation: Pedagogic tools to raise awareness of biodiversity and the night, participatory workshops, consultation, etc.
- Artistic expression: Installations, urban scenography, sensory experiences, etc.
- Curation and project guidance : Organisation of cultural events, exhibitions, consultation, project management assistance.
- Multidisciplinary collaboration: Working with architects, artists, urban planners, landscape architects, museums, community centres, local authorities, civil society, etc.
Les Architistes was born in 2007, from the dissertation of an architecture student seeking a more sensitive and experiential approach to the discipline. At the time, she was exploring the potential of scenography on the urban landscape, convinced that the poetics and theatricality of the city are revealed by immersion in situ, rather than by analysis on a plan. In their early days, the Architistes transformed everyday places through wild installations and a practice based on iteration, to reveal their narrative and emotional potential.
Today, Les Architistes are engaged in a collective, shared movement. They are joining forces with other professionals and putting themselves at the service of reflections on urban planning, urban scenography and the appropriation of places by day and night, on a temporary or permanent basis. Guided by their conviction that it is essential to come together and work at the crossroads of disciplines, the Architistes are based at the La Maison collective, where they share resources and people to carry out their projects. Always open to collaboration, the Architistes invite creative people working with light to get in touch.
